Global
GIZ, 2020 - 2024

GIZ’s global program "Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security" (ProSoil) is part of the BMZ's "A World without Hunger" (SEWOH) initiative. Aiming at improving living conditions and mitigating climate change, the program promotes sustainable soil protection and rehabilitation in eight countries. The Steering Unit in Germany coordinates the ProSoil program and is in charge of aggregated impact monitoring and reporting to the BMZ.

GFA B.I.S. Services

GFA B.I.S. was commissioned by GFA Consulting Group to optimize the program’s impact monitoring through the set-up of a digital M&E system, based on DACOTA. GFA B.I.S. built an infrastructure around World Bank’s mobile data collection tool Survey Solutions (WBSS), enabling the program’s Steering Unit to collect data from country projects via WBSS. The system handles even highly complex questionnaires as well as survey-adaptations to local contexts, while permitting to exploit the complex data in cross-country analyses. The setup allows country projects to use WBSS also for own data collection needs beyond the M&E requirements of the Steering Unit. Data needed for the Steering Unit’s monitoring activities is fed into the unit’s analytics database in near real time. Customized analytical dashboards permit the Steering Unit to track and control indicators and trends.
